Top 3 Best Post Secondary Schools in Calgary

Mount Royal University

Mount Royal University

I knew a number of people who went to Mount Royal and hung out there a lot. Mount Royal – MRU was granted University status somewhat recently, but University of Calgary in its current form didn’t exist until 1966, so we’re not talking about hundreds of years of history here. Mount Royal University has a much more limited number of degrees offered, but the learning environment to me is more of a classroom compared to a large lecture hall packed with hundreds of students. It’s also a great place to take upgrade or transfer courses. More selection for those who are interested in post secondary education can only be a good thing.

SAIT

SAIT - Southern Alberta Institute of Technology Polytechnic

If I were to go back for post secondary now, I would probably go for the EET – Electrical Engineering Technology program at SAIT. I enjoy electrical things and hardware in general. But that might be because I’ve spent most of my career so far on the software side and hardware is an unknown and exotic to me. In a place like Alberta, the SAIT and NAIT polytechnic schools makes a lot of sense to me for good future job prospects.

University of Calgary

University of Calgary

I’m biased towards the University of Calgary as it is my alma mater and have fond memories there. I do think that it is still the “best” post secondary school in Calgary Alberta at least in terms of their management, engineering, computer science and medical programs. I enjoy the arts, but would never pursue it professionally myself, because I’m garbage at it and would likely starve. But if I were to take it seriously and actually do a post secondary program in it, I would go to Alberta University of the Arts (formerly known as ACAD).
