Canadian Tire

Mastercraft Maximum power tools in general are decent enough for home users and they often go on sale at Canadian Tire. Warranty is pretty good and Canadian Tires are pretty easy to find in Calgary. If I’m looking for Dremel accessories or miscellaneous drill bits, I’d go to Canadian Tire. Mastercraft actually makes a 15/32 drill bit which is perfect for Pomona banana inputs.

Chinook Centre

Chinook Centre is the largest shopping mall in Calgary and the only one currently with a movie theatre. There is underground parking as well as outdoor parking. Just a short walk from the Chinook LRT train station, Chinook Centre is easily accessible by car or transit. Anchor stores include Hudson’s Bay, Nordstrom ans Saks Fifth Avenue. Chinook Centre has a pretty nice food court and some attached restaurants such as Joey Chinook, Tin Tin Dim Sum, State and Main and Globefish Japanese Bistro.

Crate and Barrel

Pretty fancy pants for a big box furniture store before getting into custom solid wood stuff. I definitely get sticker shock when looking at certain things especially comparing to IKEA pricing, but that’s not comparing apples-to-apples. Things do feel like they’ll last quite awhile and there are sales throughout the year if you can wait. We were looking for a wood table and chairs and actually found Crate and Barrel to be reasonable compared to other places that we were looking at.
